June 22, 2017

We had a total blast at Player-to-Ref Camp at St. John's University this weekend. The play was the most competitive women basketball I've seen.

A big thanks to:

  • St. John's University Coach Joe Tartamella,
  • QNS SUBOA/MECCA NETWORK's Cornell Hampton and his staff,
  • MAGBO's Kerry Donohue,
  • Heather Browne (Div. I official) and Joe Vaszily (Div. I officials) for making this camp a success.

Kudos to the former players who made their way through New York City and to the gym at 7:45am for a day of training. It's a privilege to serve officials at every stage of their careers.

Another successful Player-to-Ref (P2R) camp in the books! On June 23, 2018 - 12 former players met at St. John's University to listen to learn about officiating. We had a great day. I appreciate Coach Tartamella and his staff for hosting us at their team camp. Thanks also to Cornell Hampton and staff for slotting one of our officials into a crew of three. Thanks so Kerry Donohue and Chris Kelly of MAGBO for their support and advice. Thanks to Joe Vaszily and Jorge Martinez for offering to help and volunteering their time to this camp. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with former players every summer at P2R. After 3 years of this camp, we've had over 40 campers come through this program and several are working college ball.
